Alarm Event Instruction Set

Screen Overview

The Alarm Event Instruction Set screen allows administrators to search, review, and maintain the instructions operators should follow when specific alarm or event types occur in a selected system. Use the filter pane to narrow results by System or text, then manage entries from the results grid.


Field Definitions

InstructionsThe guidance text shown to operators for the corresponding event type.Read-only in the grid; open a record to view full details.

Screen Actions and Functions

  • Submit – Executes the search using the current filter values.
  • Reset – Clears all filters to their default state.
  • Refresh Systems (circular arrow beside System) – Reloads the System dropdown list.
  • Clear Search (X) – Clears the Search Text field.
  • Help (question mark) – Displays guidance on search usage.
  • Create – Opens a form to add a new alarm event instruction set.
  • View – Opens the selected record’s details.
  • Delete – Removes the selected instruction set from the system.

Usage Instructions & Examples

  1. Search for instruction sets

    1. Choose a System (optional).
    2. Enter a keyword in Search Text (optional).
    3. Click Submit to load matching records in the grid.
  2. Create a new instruction set

    1. Click Create.
    2. Select the target System.
    3. Choose the Event Type.
    4. Enter the operator Instructions.
    5. Save. The new record appears in the grid.
  3. View an instruction set

    1. Select a row in the grid.
    2. Click View to open details.
  4. Delete an instruction set

    1. Select the record in the grid.
    2. Click Delete and confirm when prompted.

System Behaviors and Edge Cases

  • The grid may load empty until Submit is clicked with or without filters.
  • Changing the System filter does not refresh results until you click Submit.
  • If no records match the filters, the grid displays no rows.
  • The Delete and View actions require a row selection; otherwise, they have no effect.
  • Refresh Systems is useful after new systems are added or permissions change.

Permissions

  • Access typically granted to Global Administrators and Tenant/System Administrators with Setup privileges.
  • Create and Delete actions require corresponding create/delete rights for Alarm Event Instruction Sets.
  • Users without modify rights can search and view but cannot create or delete records.

Linked Workflows

  • Defined instruction sets are presented to operators in alarm handling/monitoring workflows when matching events occur.
  • Ensure event types are configured for the selected system so that instructions can be associated and triggered.
